Delhi University Admission Process for ECA Quota (2025–26)

The University of Delhi (DU) offers an Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota for undergraduate admissions, allowing students to gain admission based on their proficiency in various extracurricular fields. This quota is part of the supernumerary seats, meaning it is in addition to the regular intake and does not affect the merit-based admissions. For the upcoming academic session, DU has outlined specific procedures and criteria for ECA quota admissions.
Eligibility Criteria
  1. CUET Score: Applicants must appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs. A weightage of 25% is given to the CUET score in the ECA admission process.
  2. ECA Certificates: Candidates must possess certificates in any of the 14 ECA categories, issued between May 1, 2022, and April 30, 2025. A maximum of five certificates can be submitted per category.
  3. Participation in Trials: For certain ECA categories, candidates are required to participate in physical trials. The trials assess the candidate's practical skills in their chosen activity.

Application Process
  1. Registration: Candidates must register on the DU UG Admission Portal.
  2. Selection of ECA Categories: During the application, candidates can select up to three ECA categories they wish to apply for. It's essential to choose categories offered by the colleges in which the candidate is interested.
  3. Uploading Documents: Candidates need to upload their ECA certificates and CUET scorecard. The uploaded certificates must be self-attested and in the prescribed format.
  4. Payment of Fees: An additional fee of ₹100 per ECA category is required, in addition to the regular application fee.
Selection Criteria
  • Combined ECA Merit (CEM) Score: The selection is based on the Combined ECA Merit score, which is calculated as follows:
    • 25%: Weightage of the highest CUET score among the programs applied for.
    • 75%: Weightage of the ECA score, which includes marks from physical trials (where applicable) and certificate evaluation.
  • Trial Performance: For categories requiring trials, performance in these trials contributes significantly to the ECA score.
  • Certificate Evaluation: Certificates are evaluated based on specific criteria, and only the best three certificates are considered for scoring.
Important Dates
  • Trial Dates: Physical trials for various ECA categories are scheduled as per the DU admission calendar. Candidates must check the official DU admission website for the exact dates and venues.
  • Result Declaration: The results for ECA quota admissions are announced after the trials and certificate evaluations.

Tie-Breaking Rules for ECA/Sports Quotas
The following revised tie-breaking rules will be used for admissions to the ECA and Sports Quotas, based on the raw CUET scores provided by NTA. These rules will apply if two or more candidates have the same Consolidated ECA Marks (CEM) or Consolidated Sports Marks (CSM).
Tie-Breaking Rules:
  1. ECA/Sports Trial Marks:
    • Candidates securing higher marks in the ECA/Sports trial will be given preference.
  2. ECA/Sports Certificate Marks:
    • If the tie persists, preference will be given to the candidate with higher marks in the ECA/Sports certificate.
  3. CUET Score:
    • If the tie remains unresolved, preference will be given to the candidate with a higher CUET score.
  4. Date of Birth (Class X Certificate):
    • If the tie still persists, the candidate with an earlier date of birth (as mentioned in the Class X certificate) will be given preference.
Additional Information:
  • ECA and Sports allocations will be made based on the latest available preferences of the candidates.
These rules ensure a fair and systematic process for resolving ties in the ECA and Sports Supernumerary Quotas for admissions.
Key Points to Remember
  • Adherence to Deadlines: All applications and document submissions must be completed within the specified deadlines.
  • Original Documents: Candidates must bring original certificates for verification during the trials.
  • Participation Commitment: Selected candidates are expected to actively participate in ECA activities throughout their course duration.
For detailed information and updates, candidates are advised to regularly visit the official DU UG Admission Portal.
Note: The information provided is based on the latest available data as of April 2025. Candidates should verify all details from the official DU admission portal to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
