CUET 2027 Overview
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is the national-level exam conducted for admission to undergraduate (UG) programs in government and private universities across India. Introduced in 2022, the entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to give a fair chance to every individual from diverse educational backgrounds. More than 280 universities participate in CUET every year for admissions to various courses, including top institutions like Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
With a vision of ‘One Nation, One Entrance Exam’, CUET has become mandatory for almost all UG courses in India. The entrance exam covers all domain programs, including Humanities, Commerce, Science and Engineering.

CUET 2027 Eligibility Criteria
The CUET 2027 has pretty straightforward eligibility criteria for students looking to appear for the entrance examination. There is no age limit to appear for the examination; however, it is important that the candidate has appeared for the Class 12 examination before 2026 or is going to appear in 2027. More details on CUET 2027 eligibility criteria are listed below:
List of Qualifying Examination (QE)
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/
- University.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or any foreign country is recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU/University Grants Commission (UGC) or any agency notified by the MoE.
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
- In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
Reservations
- Indian nationals belonging to certain categories (OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD) are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India/State Governments.
CUET Free Master Classes:
Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) / Provisions relating to Persons with Disability (PwD)
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) means a person with not less than 40 per cent of a specified disability where the specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with a disability where the specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority.
- Persons with Disability (PwD) means a person with long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairment which, in interaction with barriers, hinders his full and effective participation in society equally with others.
CUET 2027 Exam Pattern
The CUET 2027 Exam Pattern is divided into three sections, which are as follows:
- Section I: Language Section: Consists of 13 Indian Languages, namely, Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
- Section II: Domain Subject: Consists of 23 domain-specific subjects, namely, Accountancy / Book-Keeping, Agriculture, Anthropology, Biology / Biological Science / Biotechnology / Biochemistry, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science / Informatics Practices, Economics / Business Economics, Environmental Science, Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Commercial Arts, Geography / Geology, History, Home Science, Knowledge Tradition - Practices in India, Mass Media / Mass Communication, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music), Physical Education / NCC / Yoga, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Section III: General Aptitude Test
Candidates preparing to appear for CUET 2027 can choose up to a maximum of five subjects, including languages and the General Aptitude Test, regardless of the subjects they opted for in class XII. The CUET format recommends that the candidate may select the subjects based on the eligibility criteria for a program at a desired university. As mentioned before, the National Testing Agency has structured the CUET Entrance Exam very carefully to define Languages and Domain Subjects necessary for students to gain admission in their dream institute. Appearing candidates can choose a maximum of 5 Languages and/or Domain Subjects. Paper I: Language
The language section of the CUET exam evaluates candidates on their reading comprehension skills based on different types of passages, including factual, literary and narrative. CUET 2027 Application Process
STEP 1: Access the Registration Form
Find the official online application form from the official NTA website and note down the system-generated application number. Create your password and proceed to choose complete verification as instructed.
STEP 2: Fill in the Application Form
Next, complete the application form, including filling out personal details and educational qualifications. Then, carefully proceed by selecting the university/program name, test paper details, and examination city. Upload the images and documents (as required).
STEP 3: Upload the needed Documents
- Photograph: 10 kb to 200 kb and in JPG/JPEG format.
- Signature: 10 kb to 50 kb and in JPG/JPEG format.
- Disability/UDID Certificate (if any): Scanned copy between 50 kb and 300 kb.
STEP 4: Fee Payment
After all the formalities are completed, the candidates are required to pay the examination fee online using Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, and UPI. Please note that the fee cannot be paid offline.
STEP 5: Downloading Confirmation Page
Once the candidate has successfully paid the fee, they are advised to download, save, and print a copy of the Confirmation Page of the Application Form for future reference.
CUET 2027 Admit Card
The admit card for CUET 2027 will be released in the second week of May at https://cuet.nta.nic.in/. Registered candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official website when it is released. Along with the admit cards, NTA also releases information slips that include important dates for candidates, such as the exam city and centre.
To download the admit card, candidates will need to enter their application number and password or date of birth. It is important to note that candidates must appear at the examination centre on the date and time that have been allotted to them.
CUET 2027 Answer Key
The National Testing Agency (NTA) publishes the CUET answer key shortly after it completes all the rounds of the entrance exam. Once the answer key is out, the candidates can log into the CUET 2027 official website and tally their answers to get an idea.
CUET candidates also use this opportunity to challenge their results if they feel that there is some discrepancy; however, they will be required to pay an extra fee as decided by the NTA regulations. To do so, candidates can use the provisional answer key and response sheet to estimate their probable score. The final answer key will be released after considering the challenges and will determine the results.
CUET 2027 Results and Cutoff
CUET 2027 results are generally announced in mid-June or early July on the official CUET and NTA website. Candidates can access the results by logging into the official website and verifying their identity through their login credentials.

CUET Counselling Process
Once the results and each institution’s cut-off scores are released, candidates proceed to the counselling process. Conducted by the participating institute, counselling is held round-wise according to the prepared list.
It is important to note that candidates must register separately on the website of each individual university they wish to join, submit course preferences, and pay local processing fees to be eligible for a seat in the counselling rounds.
