If you are planning to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in 2027 but are waiting for the Class 12 Board examination to finish, we are here to warn you against it. If it follows the last cycle, the CUET UG Entrance Exam will fall in May-June 2027, with the official bulletin and registration expected only in January 2027. That gives you roughly five months of shared preparation, followed by a short revision window after the last board paper. A vague plan is likely to collapse near the exam date. Therefore, you should outline a properly planned preparation roadmap and a fixed weekly timetable at this stage.
For the unversed, CUET is a computer-based national-level entrance test conducted for both UG and PG admissions. For admission to the UG programs, the applicant may choose a maximum of five papers from 37 options available, namely, 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and one General Aptitude Test. Each paper has 50 compulsory multiple-choice questions, which is timed at 60 minutes. As per the marking scheme, CUET rewards +5 for a correct answer, -1 for an incorrect answer, and 0 for an unattempted question.

Phase 1: Foundation: 10 September to 31 October 2026
Finish leftover Class 11 ideas that Class 12 chapters assume. Complete at least 40 to 50 per cent of each chosen Class 12 NCERT domain book. Start language and general aptitude test prep as daily habits, not weekend subjects. Take one short CUET sectional every fortnight only to learn pacing.
Weekly targets: two NCERT chapters per domain subject, or one long science chapter plus its exercises; five language passages; six GAT sessions of 20 minutes; one error-log review on Sunday.
CUET Free Master Classes:
Phase 2: Coverage and Conversion: 1 November 2026 to 15 January 2027
Finish the Class 12 theory syllabus in school subjects before pre-boards if your school calendar allows it. After every chapter, convert it into a timed CUET set of 20 to 40 questions. Raise mocks from one sectional a fortnight to one full or near-full mock every three weeks by December, then every two weeks in early January.
January is also a form-filling month. Registration is expected in the first weeks of 2027. Fill subjects only after you have checked university mapping rules. Complete practicals and projects in this phase so that February is not a backlog month.
Weekly targets: syllabus completion on a written tracker; one mock or two sectionals; GAT current affairs notes for the week; a language vocabulary list of 20 words used in sentences.
Phase 3: Board Exam Window: Mid-January to the last Board Exam
Your class 12 Boards examination marks still matter for eligibility and for your own confidence. Study in the board language: sample papers, previous years’ questions, and handwritten answers against the clock. Keep CUET revision alive as a maintenance dose only. Students who drop GAT and Language completely in February usually cannot rebuild speed in April.
Weekly targets during boards: full board revision for the next two papers; 15 minutes of Language or GAT on at least five days; no new CUET book.
Phase 4: Conversion Camp: Last board paper to CUET
This window is commonly six to 10 weeks. Switch fully to CUET format. Sit a full mock every four to five days. Review the same evening. Revise from NCERT, the error log, and official previous-year questions only. Practice the 60-minute rhythm until 50 questions feel routine. Remember the arithmetic of negative marking: a wrong guess costs six marks relative to a skip.
Weekly targets: two full mocks, or one full mock plus three sectionals; one complete pass over weak chapters; daily GAT and one language paper.

That is about four focused hours after school, which is enough on five weekdays. If coaching already occupies the 4:30 p.m. slot, move the CUET MCQ block to 8:30 p.m. and shorten GAT to 15 minutes. Do not remove GAT from the timetable to “save” the evening. That is how average scores stay average.
How to Utilize Time on the Weekends…
Saturday should feel like a board rehearsal. Sunday should feel like a CUET rehearsal. Here’s how:
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., write one full board-style paper in examination conditions. After a break, spend 90 minutes correcting it against the marking scheme and rewriting weak answers. Evening: complete one pending NCERT chapter that the school left.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Phase 1–2, write two CUET sectionals; from December onward, take a full-length mock if stamina allows. Afternoon: 90 minutes on the error log. Sort every wrong question into concept gap, carelessness, or time pressure. Evening: GAT practice test of 25 questions and a weekly current-affairs recap. Sleep on time. Monday school will not wait.
We know class 12 is heavy. It is also the only year in which the same NCERT page can build a board answer and a CUET score. Follow the phase you are in, keep the weekday sequence, and protect the 20-minute GAT slot as if it were a class you cannot skip. When May arrives, you will not be starting. You will be converting work that began in September.
