CUET 2025: Syllabus, Notification, Eligibility, Registration, and Pattern

CUET 2025: The registration date of CUET 2025 has not been released by NTA yet,but the expected date is March 2025. CUET aspirants can fill out the application form on the official website cuetug.ntaonline.in. The correction window will open in April 2025 for candidates. CUET exam will be conducted in multiple days in May 2025. In this article we will cover every area which is important for CUET 2025 . In 2025 NTA will provide 29 Domain Subjects. 
What is CUET?
CUET exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is the national level exam conducted for admission to Central Universities, Private Universities and Deemed Universities. CUET 2025 is a single exam for all the programs in Universities across Country. CUET  covers all Undergraduate programs in Commerce, Science, Humanities and even Engineering. 
CUET exam is a standardized exam that gives a fair chance to every candidate from different educational backgrounds. In 2025, 500 Universities participated in this exam for their admission to various courses and in 2025 this number is likely to go up to 500+ in 2025 which includes distinguished Universities like Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
With a vision of “One Nation, One Entrance Exam”, CUET exam will become mandatory for almost all Undergraduate courses in India in the future. The CUET will be required for all students finishing their +2 to get into any University, regardless of their field of study. In the future this test might become the first step in exams like the NEET and JEE, making it a stepping stone to clearing these prestigious exams.

CUET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: No age limit for candidates.
Qualification: Must have passed or be appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2025
Reservations: Indian nationals of certain categories (OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS, SC, ST) have seats reserved as per Government of India rules, subject to the reservation policy of the respective Central University
Persons with Disability (PwD)
  • Provisions include the use of a scribe (if necessary) and compensatory time during exams.
  • For one hour exam, an extra 20 minutes will be given to the candidates
  • A minimum disability of 40% is required for reservation benefits.

Paper-I Language
For the first section of the CUET exam, the majority of students of CBSE schools will opt for English language. In this section,  the questions will be asked from topics such as Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar etc.
Out of the 50 questions, students can attempt any 40 questions
Paper- II Domain (Subjects in Class 12)
This section includes 29 subjects from the +2 level, all based on the NCERT syllabus. These subjects span the Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams. Students can select a subject they studied in Class XII or choose a new subject they wish to pursue for graduation. However, it's important to note that each university has specific criteria for subject selection in their programs.
Out of the 50 questions, students can attempt any 40 questions
Paper- III General Test
This paper consists of questions from Basic Mathematics, Basic Reasoning and Mental Ability, and Basic General Knowledge. This section is mandatory for a few selective courses, the details of which can be found on the official websites of participating colleges.
Out of the 60 questions, students can attempt any 50 questions
Note:
  1. From the above Subjects/Languages, the candidate can choose a maximum of 06 (six) subjects from all three sections.
  2. 40 out of 50 questions for all test papers and 50 out of 60 for the General Test (An overall choice of 10 questions will be provided for all 63 subjects).
  3. It is advisable for candidates to select at least one Language and the General Test.
Structure of CUET 2025 Exam
  1. Total subjects: 63 (33 languages, 29 domain-specific, and 01 General Test)
  2. Medium of the Test: 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali,  Hindi, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) 
  3. Total Questions: 40 out of 50 questions for all test papers and 50 out of 60 for the General Test (choice of 10 questions). Duration for all test papers would be 45 minutes except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics,  Chemistry, Accountancy, Physics, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
CUET 2025 Syllabus
Section I (IA & IB)
The language section of the CUET exam evaluates candidates on their reading comprehension skills based on different types of passages, including factual, literary and narrative ones, Verbal Ability, Rearranging the Parts, Choosing the Correct Word, Synonyms,  Antonyms and Vocabulary. This Language section is divided into two sub-sections 1A and 1B, consisting of 13 and 20 languages respectively. Please refer to the list below to know which languages are offered in the CUET exam.

In the Domain Specific Subject section, a total of 29 subjects are offered by NTA for CUET. Two new subjects were added to the CUET which are Fashion Studies and Tourism.  The syllabus for Domain Subjects is based on the syllabus of class 12th. Below is the list of subjects offered:

CUET 2025 Application Process
Step 1: Registration
Register for the online application and note the system-generated Application Number.
Provide Personal Details: Supply necessary details and select a password, along with a security question and answer.
This application number is crucial for completing the application and for future correspondence.
Step 2: Completing the Application Form
Use the system-generated application number and your password for log In
Fill out Details which include personal information, educational qualifications, University/program selection and examination cities 
  • Upload Documents
  • Photograph: Colour or black and white, 80% face visible, against a white background. Size: 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Signature: In JPG/JPEG format, size between 4 kb to 30 kb.
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable).
Step 3: Fee Payment
Pay the exam fee online via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI. Processing charges and GST will apply.
Confirmation Page: Generated post-successful fee payment. If not generated, contact the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway.
Single Application: Submit only one application per candidate (except for twins).
Documentation: No need to send any documents to NTA post-application.
Application Confirmation: The application is considered successful only after fee payment confirmation.
Right Information: Ensure all details entered are correct. Changes are not permitted after submission. Provide a valid and personal email address and mobile number for receiving updates from NTA.
Note: Incomplete applications (without successful fee payment) will be rejected.
CUET 2025 Admit Card
The admit card for CUET 2025 will be released from the 2nd week of May 2025 onwards at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/. 
  • Registered candidates will be able to download the admit card when it is released. 
  • Candidates are required to download the admit card from the website of CUET cuetug.ntaonline.in. 
  • To download the admit card, candidates will need to enter their application number and password or date of birth.
  • It is important to note that candidates must appear at the examination center on the date and time allotted to them. They will not be permitted to appear at any other time.
  • Before the release of the admit card for CUET 2025 NTA will release the exam city intimation slip. 
CUET 2025 Answer Key
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will publish the answer key for CUET 2025 on the official website- ceutug.ntaonline.in. The tentative release date is the last week of June 2025 . 
  • Candidates can use the CUET UG answer key and response sheet to estimate their probable CUET 2025 score before the results are declared. Candidates can challenge  CUET 2025 answer key if required on or before the specified date. 
  • The final answer key will determine the CUET 2025 result. 
  • CUET 2025 exam is scheduled to be held in multiple phases in MAY 2025.
  • Candidates must provide proof for the challenged question. On the basis of challenges received by the NTA, they will publish the final CUET 2025 answer key one day before the results are declared. 
CUET 2025 Cutoff
CUET 2025 Cut Off is expected to be released in the last week of July 2025 . After the release the institutions will publish their Cut Off on their official website. Only candidates who meet the minimum CUET Cut Off criteria will be eligible for admission into various UG courses. The CUET Cut Off is determined based on various factors, such as the number of applicants, the number of seats and CUET UG 2025 scores. CUET scores are accepted by 45 Central and other Universities.
CUET 2025 Result
The result for CUET 2025 is expected to be announced in June 2025 via cuetug.ntaonline.in. Candidates who have appeared for the CUET 2025 exam will be able to access the result by logging in with their credentials. To download the CUET NTA scorecard 2025 applicants need to enter their login details, including their application number and date of birth or password. The CUET 2025 cut-off will be released by participating colleges and Universities soon after the announcement of results.
CUET 2025 Counselling
The Counselling process is to be conducted by the respective Universities. The Universities will be preparing their respective Merit Lists for the offered programmes and may follow the same practice as in earlier years to fill the seats that fall vacant due to dropouts. Candidates who wish to get admission to CUET counselling must first register and then participate in the online counselling process. Typically, there are three rounds of counselling, although the number of rounds may vary depending on the number of available seats. To accept an admission offer, candidates need to come to the institution once the seat allocation result is announced and have to verify their documents.
CUET 2025 Mock Test
CUET  mock tests help candidates evaluate their performance by providing a clear image of their weaknesses and strengths. NTA also provides sample papers for practice. The CUET exam is conducted by NTA every year and candidates can take the mock test on the official website.

What is the basic eligibility to take the CUET Exam?
To appear for the CUET exam, a student must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the +2 examination for the General category and 45% marks for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category.
Can students from Boards other than CBSE also give CUET?

Is there any age limit to take the CUET Exam?

Yes, students can select any subject from the list of domain subjects. For example, even if a student who did not study Economics in the 12th grade, can still appear in the CUET Economics Test and pursue his desired course. However,it is not applicable in the case of Delhi University. For admission to all undergraduate programs at the University of Delhi, candidates must compulsorily appear in those papers in CUET (UG) - 2025 in which s/he have passed Class XII board exams.
What is the counselling process for admission into the University of Delhi through the CUET exam?
After the CUET exam, students who want to get into Delhi University go through a process called the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). In this process students are allocated seats in the colleges affiliated with Delhi University based on the cutoffs decided by the colleges. The seat allocation is dependent upon the selected course combination and seat availability.
